The Camden Boys’ Varsity wrestling team has placed one student-athlete on the All-CNY Team presented by Syracuse.com, and four student-athletes on the Tri-Valley League all-star teams released recently.
Junior Kolton Kelley headlines as the team’s honoree on both year-end honor rolls. Kolton was the Section III Division II Champion at 131 lbs, which secured a spot at the state championships in Albany. He was also the runner-up in the Section III Class B Tournament. He had a season record of 32 wins and six losses, and secured 21 wins by way of pinfall. He has 128 wins in his career and captured his 100th career win in early December. He was on the Tri-Valley League first team.
He was joined by two other Blue Devils on the TVL First Team.
At 108 pounds, promising ninth grader Bradyn Hatzinger recorded the first winning season of his varsity career with a record of 18-11. He won nine matches by way of pinfall this year. Hatzinger was fifth in the Section III Division II tournament, and was an impressive 2nd at the Section III Class B Tournament. He also won his classification at the Camden Blue Devil Invitational.
At 116 pounds, eighth grader Talon Kimball made the TVL first team after a remarkable campaign. He placed seventh at the New York State Championships in his weight class, and was the runner-up at the Section III Class B and Section III Division II tournaments. He was 37-9 with 22 pins, and did not lose to a TVL opponent all season. He was the North Country Invitational Champion at 124 pounds.
On the second team, Mason Butler was Camden’s representative. As a tenth grader, Butler went 26-13 and won 17 matches by pin. He was the runner-up at 101 pounds at the Blue Devil Invitational and at the Section III Class B Championship. He also placed sixth at the Section III Division II Championship.
As a team, the Blue Devils were seventh at the Section III Division II Championship, and sixth at the Section III Class B Tournament.
