When your child may return to school

Students exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 should be seen by a healthcare provider.    If a person refuses to be tested or be seen by a healthcare provider they will not be allowed in school for 10 calendar days after the first symptom appeared. If they are diagnosed as not having COVID-19 by their provider they may return to school:

  • Once there is no fever, without the use of fever reducing medications, and they have felt well for 24 hours

  • If they have been diagnosed with another condition and has a healthcare providers written note stating they are clear to return to school.

If a person is diagnosed with COVID-19 by a healthcare provider based on their symptoms or a test, they should not be at school and should stay home until:

  • It has been at least ten days since the individual first had symptoms; and

  • It has been at least 3 days since the individual has had a fever (without the use of fever reducing medications); and

  • It has been at least 3 days since the individual’s symptoms improved, including cough and shortness of breath.

Students that receive a positive COVID-19 diagnosis, refuse the test or refuse to be seen by a provider should contact the main office to be transferred to remote learning for the duration of their quarantine.
