On November 14th and 15th, the Camden Middle School Auditorium transformed into a world of pure imagination - and lots of chocolate - as students presented their annual musical production: Roald Dahl’s “Willy Wonka Jr.”
Based on the classic book by Dahl, and the legendary film starring Gene Wilder, the show is an enchanting musical tour of the secretive, mysterious, and magical Wonka factory alongside winners of the coveted golden tickets from around the globe.
Annabelle Mikitin played the title role to lead a large ensemble cast. They powered through iconic tunes like “The Candy Man”, “Pure Imagination” and “Golden Ticket” to leave audiences delighted.
Adding to the fun was a special display of a Willy Wonka-themed Motorcycle owned by community member Ron Engel. Attendees could take pictures with the bike in exchange for donations to future Camden Middle School productions.
Under the leadership of Director Jennifer Chase, Music Director Micayla MacDougall, and choreographer Heather Serway, students worked from September on, including prop building on weekends, to put together a finished product. Thank you to all who contributed to make this production take flight!
This show was presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International of New York, New York.
