The Camden Boys’ Varsity bowling team delivered a strong finish on the biggest stage as they competed at the 2024 NYSPHSAA Division II Boys’ Bowling Championship held on Friday, March 8th at the Strike N’ Spare Lanes in Mattydale.
The Section III Division II Champion Blue Devils placed a terrific fifth out of nine competing Section champions at the tournament. They marked down a total pinfall of 5949 for their six game series, with a 2911 in the morning session, and a 3038 in the afternoon session. The team eclipsed a score of 1000 in three of their six games, headlined by a 1,092 in the fifth game.
Camden was led by sophomore Ayden Gerow, who placed twelfth on the individual leaderboard with a total score of 1,267. He averaged 211 for the tournament over his six game series. His best single game marks were a 234 in game 1, and a 236 in game 5.
Sophomore Braylon Lyke placed 24th with a total score of 1180. He averaged a score of 196.67, and helped fuel the team’s best single game with a 238 in the fifth game.
Senior Gabe Lallier was 25th with a score of 1155. He averaged 192.50 and broke the 200 mark twice with games of 233 and 211 during his series.
Senior Daniel Janes finished 29th with a score of 1136. He averaged 189.3 and had two games of 204 to highlight his day.
Freshman Alex Lallier placed 40th and bowled four of the six games. He averaged 196, but certainly made his time count with an awesome performance in the fourth game. Lallier produced the team’s best game of the day with a 245 en route to a combined score of 785 over four appearances.
Eighth grader Conner Bruggeman and freshman Garrett Grinnell turned in single game efforts of 223 and 203, respectively. Eighth grader Ethan Puleo was also rostered as part of the state team for Camden and had the experience of attending states in the young part of his competitive career.
