On Friday, Camden Middle School hosted representatives from the Essential Elements Schools to Watch program for an initial designation ceremony. The school community was presented with their initial designation banner, and the Camden community had a few surprises for our students as well! To celebrate, each student received a commemorative t-shirt designed by student Kenleigh VanWinkle and provided through the generosity of Mystic Stamp and the Sundman Family. There were also cupcakes in classrooms compliments of our local Tops store. This is a significant milestone, but it is as much a new beginning as it is a culmination. Schools can re-apply to keep their designation every three years, and staff and students will be striving to uphold the standard they've created in the years ahead.

You should come to the CMS Play, "Miss Nelson is Missing" if you didn't come last night. With a full auditorium, maybe we can convince our villainous substitute teacher character, Viola Swamp, to let her Room 207 students out for recess. She didn't feel like it on opening night, that's for sure. 6:30. Free Admission. Come support our students!

Camden FFA spent two days moving “FORWARD” with the NYS FFA Convention in Buffalo NY! Over 2,100 FFA members attended this years convention from all across NYS! Six outstanding FFA members represented Camden to the highest degree. Camden FFA attendees were Matthew Albrecht, Alexis Albrecht, Luke Eveleth, Patrick Eveleth, Izabella Johnson, and Colton Brown. Convention started out with four students attending tours regarding silo history, and equine racing. One student spent Thursday afternoon “living to serve” with a “Day of Service” project cleaning up the Tift Nature Preserve. Day 1 ended with a big bang for Camden FFA. Matthew Albrecht received his very own FFA Jacket on stage of “session.” The entire crew of six students also were recognized on behalf of Camden FFA receiving an award for leaving a lasting legacy as a new FFA Chapter. FFA members then spent the remainder of the night absorbing all the impactful moments from guest speakers to Commissioner Ball. Camden FFA members finished out NYS FFA Convention on May 3rd with a heavy schedule. Alexis Albrecht, Izabella Johnson, Colton Brown, and Luke Eveleth spent the morning in various workshops and delegate meetings. They ended the day with participation in the Floral Design CDE competition. The four students applied new knowledge to the Floral CDE and also learned new things to apply next year in their competitions. Patrick Eveleth spent the morning touring SUNY Niagara, where he found a passion for the Animal Management program and ended the day with leadership workshops. Matthew Albrecht started the day with his Agriculture Education CDE where he developed a different appreciation for educations and developed a new skill set of educating others. All Camden FFA members did an amazing job representing Camden and the community. Students left the convention eager for next years opportunities and a new motivation to move Camden FFA “FORWARD” towards new success!
